Today, I’ve been having a problem submitting large-ish files to P4. Specifically, the two files in question were around 100MB. P4 would look like it was submitting, then eventually timeout with a network error (note: not explicitly a timeout error).
Eventually, I was successful for one of the files after the 5th or so time trying to submit. For the other file, I put my workspace into compression mode – the checkbox looks like this:
On a side note, the “rmdir” option can be useful. Imagine cases where you want to “remove from workspace” – by having “rmdir” checked, there is no reason to manually go into Windows Explorer and delete the empty folders.
Also on a side note, never ever check any of the other options. There must be a useful use-case to do so, but I have not come across yet.
