Just purchased an HP 7612.  Even though I had the IP address of the printer and Windows looked like it installed it properly, every time I printed, I received a notice about the printer being offline.

After going into the Control Panel and fidgeting with the installation, I finally came across an article that pointed me in the right direction.

Although the article does not explicitly mention it, it turns out that using the new Windows 10 Settings version for “Printers & Scanners” to install the printer works, but the old Control Panel version does not.
